Anchorage musician and songwriter, Johnny Prizm, recently stopped by Alaska Public Media to discuss his work and give an in-studio performance.

Anchorage musician Johnny Prizm has been making a name for himself in the local scene both solo and with a backing band. He was born in Whitehorse, Yukon and moved to Juneau where he started his songwriting journey. He saw local musicians performing songs they had written at the Folk Festival and knew he wanted to do that himself. Looking to grow his skills, he enrolled in the classical guitar program at UAA. He's playing more contemporary music these days, rocking out with his own band or collaborating with other artists in different genres. He'll be playing at the Girdwood Forest Fair on July 5 and will be opening for Hawthorn Heights at Williwaw on August 1.

On this episode he tells us about his origins as a songwriter, getting his start in the local scene and a program to help kids find their creative voices. We also hear an in-studio performance if his song "Ego."
