Anchorage is looking at a new bicycle plan aimed at encouraging utility biking, increasing bicycle use, and reducing accidents involving bicycles. U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood made a surprise appearance at the National Bike Summit last week and announced a new policy to put walking and bicycling on an equal footing with vehicle travel in future federally funded transportation projects. He said “It’s what the people want.
