Outdoor rec area at Goose Creek might violate constitutional rights
In many correctional facilities in Alaska, an enclosed room with an opening that lets in fresh air is considered outdoor space. For inmates held in protective custody at Goose Creek Correctional Center in Wasilla, that’s their only access to outdoor recreation, which could be a violation of their constitutional rights. Man sentenced for drunken Iditarod snowmachine incident
A drunk driver who ran his snowmachine into the dog teams of two front-running Iditarod mushers during the last year’s race, was sentenced in state court in Fairbanks Dec. 19. Under a pleas agreement, 27-year-old Arnold Demoski of Nulato was sentenced to 6 months in jail and to pay restitution to the mushers. Listen Now
