One man died Sunday morning after a shooting in Spenard that left two other people wounded, according to Anchorage police.
Police said in a brief statement that officers responded to the 1700 block of West 32nd Avenue, off Minnesota Drive near West Benson Boulevard, at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday. They found a man and a woman, both with upper-body trauma, who were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
About 90 minutes later, police found a second man with upper-body trauma who was declared dead at the scene.
“Detectives have contacted everyone believed to be involved in this investigation and are not looking for anyone at this time,” police said in the statement. “There is no current public safety threat related to this incident.”
Police have not publicly identified the man killed. Police spokesman Christopher Barraza said an investigation of the shooting was ongoing Monday, but declined to answer additional questions.
Officers temporarily closed Eureka Street between West 32nd and West 34th avenues during their investigation Sunday.
