Battle Continues Over Anchorage Labor Ordinance; And Tensions Rise Between Wal-Mart, Fishermen

During the Friday, October 25th episode of Alaska Edition KSKA reporter Daysha Eaton mistakenly referred to hatcheries as fish farms. Eaton and Alaska Public Media are aware that there are no fish farming operations in Alaska. We apologize for the mistake in reference and any resulting confusion.

Mayor Dan Sullivan and the Anchorage Assembly battle over the controversial labor ordinance. The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce comes out in favor of Medicaid expansion. A special shelter for the mentally ill is in the works in Anchorage. Tension is rising between Wal-Mart and Alaska fishermen. The Municipality of Anchorage has begun to prioritize federal grant money. Governor Parnell appoints special counsel to investigate what happened in Chicken when the EPA came to town. Bartlett High School cuts dropouts rates in half and increases graduation rates.
