Production at the Berner’s Bay facility north of Juneau officially started Thursday – a week ahead of schedule.It’s been nearly 20 years in the planning and construction. A lawsuit based on disposal of the mine’s tailings at lower Slate Lake even went all the way up to the US Supreme Court.
