At least one home is being evacuated in the Rabbit Creek area in South Anchorage, as the creek has overflowed it's banks.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Rabbit Creek this morning. High water due to recent warming trends has sent water over the bank, and according to Anchorage Police Department Dani Myren
"Shortly before 9:30 this morning, around 9:28, we received a call from a citizen who was advising of a bridge covered in water with chunks of asphalt breaking out. As we responded it turned out the bridge was near East 140th (Ave) and Buffalo."
APD says Rabbit Creek is completely flooding in the area, and that there are vehicles are in jeopardy that are near the creek. Myren says the situation is still developing
"It's a very dynamic situation and it is continuing to unfold. There is a report that there may be at least three homes that need to be evacuated, and there is at least one home that is underwater. "
She says there are no reported injuries at this point. The flood warning is in effect until noon tomorrow, (Saturday ). Officials are warning residents to not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips or low water crossings.
