State Responds to Well Blow Out

The state is responding to a blow out from an exploratory well on the North Slope. The Spanish company Repsol was in the early phase of drilling a well Wednesday morning when they encountered an unexpected gas "kick." That means gas started flowing up the well. Cathy Foerster is the engineering commissioner for the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. She says calling the accident a "blow-out" makes it sound worse than it is. She says the safety equipment did its job.

Fleeing the slide: a survivor tells his story

As crews continue to cautiously work through debris searching for the three victims of Tuesday’s deadly landslide in Sitka, it’s clear that the event could have been much worse. Senator Murkowski Outlines Off Shore Revenue Sharing Plan

Fisheries Regulators Take Steps Toward Conservation Of Bering Sea Canyons

Carved into the Bering Sea shelf are some of the ocean's largest underwater canyons. The bigger ones run more than a mile deep, and in spots they're dense with corals and sponges. They're also home to some commercial fisheries, and factory trawlers will often go there to catch pollock. Crews Work To Quell Allakaket Blaze
