The era of the computer and satellite has given new life to the study of geography. We can now map all sorts of things that we barely knew existed a few decades ago. Alaska is a frontier of this study – known as Geographic Information Systems, or GIS. On the next Talk of Alaska, we’ll trace the history of GIS back to its very beginning.
