Assembly Allows Union Proposal to Move Ahead, Huge Turnout
Hundreds of people rallied at the Anchorage Assembly chambers Tuesday night to protest a proposal by Mayor Dan Sullivan, aimed at limiting unions. Despite the huge turnout to protest the proposal, Assembly members voted to allow it to move ahead to public hearings. KSKA's Daysha Eaton has the story.

The wood in their furniture projects has come from red alder trees harvested in young-growth forest in the Tongass National Forest.A new guide published by the Sitka Conservation Society profiles a variety of projects – including two at the Sitka High School – that are testing the limits of how young-growth can be used.Learn more.
Inlet Inn Closure Leaves Residents on the Edge

The Inlet Inn has agreed to close by the end of the month. Police say it's an effort to clean up downtown, but it means many long-term residents of the motel will have to find a new place to live.

New Hydro Plant Brings Cheaper Power to Atka
When Atka’s hydroelectric power plant came online at the end of last month, it was the culmination of decades of planning, according to city administrator Julie Dirks.
No Fuel Spill Reported at Site of Kulluk Grounding
As of early this morning the grounded Shell Exploration drilling rig Kulluk is reported as remaining stable with no oil spill pollution observed. That word from the Unified Command office at 6:50 this morning. It echoes the latest situation reports from the Command, made up of industry, state, federal and local agencies. The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation’s situation report concurs.
