Second suspect indicted in Campbell Airstrip Road murder

A grand jury has indicted a second suspect on murder charges in the death of man found on a rural Anchorage road in August.

Anchorage police say a warrant has been issued for the arrest of 19-year-old Riek William Gat in connection with the death of 22-year-old Michael Mitchell.

Police are seeking the public's help in finding Gat. The indictment charges Gat with first- and second-degree murder in the case.

Mitchell's body was found just before 8:30 a.m. Aug. 22 at Mile 3 Campbell Airstrip Road. He had been shot multiple times in the head and torso.

An 18-year-old man, Kutay Bangout, also is charged with first- and second-degree murder in the case. He was arrested two weeks ago on a theft charge and remains in custody.
