Journey of the Bonesetter’s Daughter
Follow the creation of the San Francisco Opera’s celebrated production of The Bonesetter’s Daughter, composed by Stewart Wallace with a libretto by best-selling novelist Amy Tan. Based on Tan’s book of the same name, the opera is an ambitious, cross-cultural tour de force that brings together artists from China and the U.S. to tell the deeply moving story inspired by Tan’s own family history.

Solo the Rescued Sitka Black Tailed Fawn
On June 29th, AWCC staff received an orphaned sitka black tailed deer from the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, arriving on Alaska Airlines Flight 67 from Ketchikan.
The orphaned fawn will spend the rest of its days at the Portage facility.

Pribilof Islands Middle Schoolers Make a Documentary about Seabirds
A group of St. Paul Island 6th and 7th grade students have been studying the seabirds native to their island. For their final project for the Seabird Youth Network, the young students teamed up with Alaska Teen Media Institute to make a video documentary.
