Chuck Monnett now knows what the Inspector General is investigating. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Enforcement and Regulation put him on administrative leave earlier this month and got a letter Friday saying the investigation has to do with the awarding of a sole source contract for counting polar bears. Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility says Monnett will be interviewed next Tuesday.
Monnett was the first scientist to report seeing dead Polar Bears in the waters of the Arctic Ocean. A number of other sightings have followed.
