Three Clam Diggers Dead, Two Missing in Cook Inlet

Associated PressThe U.S. Coast Guard reports three clam diggers have been found dead and two are still missing.  The men had issued a distress signal Tuesday afternoon that their skiff had run into trouble southeast of Kalgin Island in Cook Inlet.Pacific Alaska Shellfish contacted the Coast Guard around 4 pm that five of its employees were missing.Petty Officer David Mosley says a Coast Guard rescue crew found two men dead about 1,700 yards from shore.   Workers from Pacific Alaska Shellfish found a third man.The search continues for the other two men.It's not known how the 20-foot aluminum skiff ran into trouble.The names of the men have not yet been released.Download Audio (MP3)
