Budget Gridlock, Pay Raises and Palin’s Emails

This week on Alaska Edition, host Jill Burke, of the Alaska Dispatch, sits down with Kyle Hopkins, from the Anchorage Daily News, and Steve MacDonald, of KTUU Channel 2, to talk about some of the hot topics in Alaska this week. Here are some of the topics they are expected to cover: After nearly a month, the gridlock between the House and the Senate over the state’s budget appears to breaking up. The Governor and Lt. Governor are up for a pay raise. Palin’s emails are a hot commodity these days with a batch due to be released. The Arctic Nations, including the United States, made history this week in Greenland. Shell files a new exploration plan. The state’s river’s are melting, but the ice can clog causing floods, as has happened in Crooked Creek on the Kuskokwim River. The Mat-Su has a new, hi-tech ferry, but this ship that was supposed to be “the next big thing” has nothing to do. And finally, former Alaska lawmaker Tom Anderson is ready to put the past behind him and move on.
