Meet the Dialogue Participants
Conversations that Matter: Envisioning Racial Equity in Alaska is a part of the Alaska Native Dialogues on Racial Equity, a statewide project that aims to initiate, foster, and grow racial healing by meaningfully engaging in conversations in communities across Alaska on race, racism and racial equity; in order to move people into a place of understanding, healing and growth.
Included here is a list of participants in that project the, including those involved in the broadcast program.

Dialogue Agreements
The Alaska Native Dialogues on Racial Equity approach to hosting conversations is born from the value of having meaningful and sometimes difficult conversations using indigenous principles and values.
Participants in individual dialogues were asked to approach the conversation within the parameters of the agreements chosen by the hosts.

As a child, Liz Hensley grew up in a household where she wasn't made aware that she was different. It wasn't until she was 15 and had moved to Anchorage that she first felt the sting of racism and made to feel like an outsider.

Sullivan Wins Reelection; Prop 5 Fails

Can America and the Muslim World be Friends?
As a Fellow of Muslim Politics and Societies at the Center on National Security at Fordham Law, Haroon Moghul is a world-renown expert on Islam in the modern world.
As a current doctoral candidate at Columbia University, Mr. Moghul’s research focus is Islamic thought in late colonial India. However, he has spoken around the world on topics including Islamic history and culture, contemporary politics in the Muslim world, and radicalism and religious identity.

Anchorage Municipal Election Results on KSKA
On Tuesday, April 3 Anchorage will elect a Mayor, 3 School Board members and vote 'yes' or 'no' on 8 Ballot Propositions. Polling places close at 8:00 pm.
Results will be posted on the Municipality of Anchorage website after 8:30 pm.
Listen for election results Tuesday evening 9:00 - 11:00 pm on KSKA during World Café and Wednesday morning during Morning Edition.

Oil Tax Revision Passed by Senate, Anchorage Election Investigation

An Alaskan Urban Rural Exchange
Nestled on the banks of the Nushagak River lies the village of New Stuyahok with a population of 510. The village is on a hill with three main streets of houses and a school at the top. Chief Ivan Blunka School is home of the Eagles: student population 150.
For a week, five Anchorage students and a teacher had a once in a lifetime chance to experience their amazing model for education.

Affordable Health Care Act in Plain English
Weeks before he presented oral arguments at the Supreme Court hearing on health care reform, author and filmmaker T.R. Reid visited to Alaska to help breakdown the 3000+ page Affordable Health Care Act. Reid explained the new rules for insurance providers, doctors and even fast food restaurants in his talk entitled "Affordable Health Care Act (Obama's Health Reform) in Plain English" recorded at UAA on March 22.
