A 19-year-old Akiachak man allegedly set his uncle’s house on fire on New Year’s Day while his uncle was sleeping. He’s been charged with two counts of arson and one count of criminal mischief.
Alaska State Troopers say John Nick, Jr. got into an argument with his uncle, 57-year-old George Manutoli over a cigarette. About 30 minutes later, troopers say, Nick returned with a gas can and set the entryway of Manutoli’s house on fire.
Troopers arrested Nick and took his to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center, where he was arraigned the following day.
He’s currently booked on a $15,000 bail.
