He spent a few days with us in Anchorage this summer sharing his passion for cooking over an open flame. He dropped by the station to talk about growing up in Maryland, studying in Europe, some of his favorite recipes and grilling tips, and his most recent book, Man Made Meals: The Essential Cookbook for Guys.

Raichlen is the star of public television’s Barbecue University and Primal Grill. Both can be seen on the Create Channel on Alaska Public Media.

He has written more than two dozen books, most of them on cooking. Some of the more popular ones are:  The Barbecue Bible, Planet Barbecue, and How To Grill.
