Steven Raichlen knows barbecue. Really knows it.
He spent a few days with us in Anchorage this summer sharing his passion for cooking over an open flame. He dropped by the station to talk about growing up in Maryland, studying in Europe, some of his favorite recipes and grilling tips, and his most recent book, Man Made Meals: The Essential Cookbook for Guys.
Raichlen is the star of public television’s Barbecue University and Primal Grill. Both can be seen on the Create Channel on Alaska Public Media.
He has written more than two dozen books, most of them on cooking. Some of the more popular ones are: The Barbecue Bible, Planet Barbecue, and How To Grill.
During his interview, Raichlen shared the secrets of the following the ideal menu to kickoff any football season:
Caveman T-bone
Brazilian Steak House Collard Greens
Tenpenny Nail Baked Potato
Bourbon Brown Cow
Recipes are taken from “Man Made Meals: The Essential Cookbook for Guys” and shared with permission by Workman Publishing. New York. New York.
