Inmate Convicted of Rape in Anchorage Jail

Wednesday, an Alaska prison inmate was convicted in Federal court of raping other prisoners in the Anchorage jail. Sabil Mujahid, 54, was earlier charged with running a prostitution service with adult woman and young girls he would recruit from the ranks of the city’s downtown runaways. His trial on those Sex Trafficking charges was scheduled for this fall. He was in the Anchorage jail awaiting sentencing after being convicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to federal authorities, all of Mujahid’s victims were Alaska Natives.
He was convicted of raping and intimidating three of them in the jail. The jury couldn’t agree on convictions for a fourth. The convictions totaled 13 counts.
