By a unanimous vote, last night the Anchorage Assembly approved a 435 million dollar municipal operating budget for 2011. That’s around 14 million dollars more than last year, but with property taxes increasing by only half a percent.
Even with the increase, one of Mayor Dan Sullivan’s major goals remains intact again next year – taxes will once again will be below the municipal tax cap by more than eight million dollars. At the same time some services will be cut back.
Just before the final vote, assembly member Mike Guiterrez appraised the budget.
