He always loved drawing and cartooning, but never really thought that he would be able to make a living off of it. So, Chad Carpenter decided law enforcement was the path he would take, until he got a little encouragement from an instructor and he decided to leave the trooper academy and take up cartooning full time. After getting "Tundra" off the ground in Alaska and hustling state fairs, his passion started to take off, making it into over 500 newspapers nationwide so far.

Ray Mala’s 105th Birthday
Senator Lisa Murkowski took the occasion of the 105th anniversary of Ray Mala’s birth to share the memories and the meaning of the nation’s first Native film star. An Alaska Native and the first non-white actor to receive top billing in Hollywood entertainment, Mala was born on December 27th, 1906 in Candle, Alaska.
Over the course of his career, Mala worked with cinema legends like Alfred Hitchcock and Cecil B. DeMille.

Ski trail preparation
KSKA: Thursday, October 05, at 2:00 p.m. On this Outdoor Explorer, we are eagerly getting ready for winter. Charles took a portable recorder to Kincaid Park to join a volunteer trail crew preparing cross country ski trails for the first snow, which we were all looking forward to so we can ski again. The trail work is designed to smooth the ground so we won’t need much snow to ski, and to be ready for the US National Championships and Olympic Trials in January.
