I AM UAA: Ruth Keino, Nursing ‘14

For the past three years, nursing student and UAA athlete Ruth Keino from Kenya has been running her heart out for the Seawolf cross-country and track & field teams. Even though she’s been running since elementary school, it never occurred to her that running could become a passport to her future. “Running was an ability that was there,” she says, “I didn't know it would take me somewhere." New AMIPA “Politics of the Past” Screening

To celebrate and raise public awareness of some of the unique, historic collections and resources held by two archival institutions here in Southcentral Alaska, the Alaska Moving Image Preservation Association (AMIPA) and UAA Archives and Special Collections will co-host an open house. Great Talkeetna Book Festival: Celebrating Banned Books

Book lovers of all ages are invited to attend the first annual Great Talkeetna Festival of Books. The festival will be held at various locations throughout downtown Talkeetna on the 8th of October and this year’s theme is Banned Books, though all books will be celebrated! We'll kick our festival off on October 7th with Peggy Shumaker, Alaska Writer's Laureate, who will host a workshop with the Talkeetna Elementary 3rd to 6th grade students. Find out more.
