ASD Cuts Impact English Language Learners
The number of immigrant, refugee and other students who need help with English is growing parts of Anchorage, but the school district is spread thin because of last year's cuts and they don't have the money to hire any new teachers or tutors.

Cognitive Aging
Dr. Pamela Greenwood is a long time researcher on cognitive aging at George Mason University whose work in this area has led her to explore on how we might be able to slow down the process. Anchorage Holds First Mini Maker Faire
The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation hosted Anchorage’s first-ever Mini Maker Faire at the Loussac Library on Saturday, July 27th. The Maker Faire is a gathering of crafters, engineers, and tinkerers launched in California in 2006 and now taking place in cities across the world. The AEDC hopes the Faire will help boost innovation and industry across Alaska.

There was a collision at the docks in Cordova that damaged a Coast Guard buoy tender.
Woman Pleads Not Guilty in Anchorage Hit-And-Run
A woman has been charged in a South Anchorage hit and run. Kayla Johnson, 20, pled not guilty Saturday. The damaged vehicle was spotted by a tipster and Johnson was arrested Friday. She is accused of driving while intoxicated as well as the hit and run on July 20. The victim, Tevin George, is still hospitalized with a serious head injury.
AVCP Requests Mulchatna Caribou Hunting Restrictions
A request by the Bethel-based Association of Village Council Presidents would see hunting of Mulchatna Caribou in Bristol Bay and the Kuskokwim closed to all but federally-qualified users living in those areas from now until July 1 of next year.
