“Summer of Heroes” Scholarship Program to Honor Local Youth

Calling all heroes! Nominations are now open for Alaska Communications’ second annual “Summer of Heroes” partnership program with Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska. In recognition of local youth who make a difference in Alaska communities, the company will select and award five young Alaskan heroes with $1,500 scholarships and a trip to the Alaska State Fair. EPA Bristol Bay Watershed Assessment Draws Hundreds in Anchorage

An estimated 900 people packed the Wendy Williamson auditorium at UAA in Anchorage for a presentation and public comment on the draft assessment of the Bristol Bay watershed. The document is the Environmental Protection Agency's take on the impact that a large mine such as the Pebble Mine could have in Southwest Alaska.
