A Kokhanok man has been indicted on charges of sexually assaulting an underage male family member. Following his arrest Tuesday, Edwin Zackar is now in custody in Anchorage on $30,000 bail.

Our former resident rooster, Roo Paul. Today, for the first time in many years, my yard was silent. There was no 4 am crow to incorporate into my dreams, as so often happens in the summer, and no crow to greet me when I came out to feed the dogs and chickens. Overdue Hikers Found Safe On Stampede Trail

Three overdue hikers have been found safe on the Stampede Trail, according to the Alaska State Troopers. On Monday morning, State Troopers and paramedics from the Tri-Valley Fire Department received a report that Jensen Green of Talkeetna, Nate Perkins and Kia Bridges of Utah had begun a hike down the Stampede Trail west of Healy on Saturday and were expected to return Sunday. Aleut Enterprise Charged With Criminal Negligence in Adak Fuel Spill

The State of Alaska has filed criminal charges against Aleut Enterprise, a subsidiary of the Aleut Corporation, over a fuel spill in Adak. The spill happened in January 2010, during a fuel transfer from the tanker Al Amerat to Adak Petroleum’s shore-based storage facility. A state investigation concluded that the fuel storage tank was overfilled, flooding a nearby stream.
