Photographer Aims To Help Struggling Non-Profits

Photographer Ron Levy came to Alaska to work as a park ranger during the 1980s. He started taking photos, first as a hobby, but soon made the jump to a professional career. Corrie Francis Parks is an artist based out of Montana. Last year, she applied for the artist residency program offered by the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park. The program contracts artists to hike the famous 33 mile Chilkoot Trail, and create an interactive artistic work with their fellow travelers. Francis Parks chose postcards as her medium. More.

Whittier Mayor Says He Lost Recall Election

The mayor of Whittier says he's lost a recall election. Mayor Lester Lunceford was being retained by a vote of 55-50 before 29 absentee and questioned ballots were counted Tuesday. Ballots were cast July 23.

Sitka-Based Coast Guard Member Faces Court-Martial

A court-martial for a Coast Guard petty officer accused of rape and sexual contact is being pushed back. The court martial for 26-year-old Petty Officer 3rd Class William Bisel had been scheduled to begin Wednesday.
