Faces in Winter at the Anchorage Museum

Portraiture is a timeless art form and my favorite. It has never been super popular as a genre but none the less has lasted through time. Today’s social media has turned digital photography into a form of cheap and accessible portraiture. The human face is the foundation of portraiture which conveniently comes with built in narratives, often revealing ongoing dialogue between the artist, his material and the viewer. Read more.

Great Performances: ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ at the Royal Albert Hall

To mark the 25th anniversary year of The Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber and producer Cameron Mackintosh presented the musical in a lavish, fully staged production in the sumptuous Victorian splendor of the Royal Albert Hall. Alone in the Wilderness: Part 1 & 2

Dick Proenneke retired at age 50 in 1967 and decided to build his own cabin on the shore of Twin Lakes. The first summer he scouted for the best cabin site, and cut and peeled the logs he would need for his cabin. Dick Proenneke returned the next summer to finish the cabin where he lived for over 30 years. Dick filmed his adventures, and Bob Swerer later turned the film into a video so we can all watch this amazing man build his cabin by hand. KAKM: Monday, March 5 @ 7:00 p.m.
