Alaska Dems gather across state to pick party’s presidential nominee

By 9:30 a.m. the parking-lot at Anchorage's West High school was overflowing onto side-streets, with cheerful lines of Democratic caucus-goers formed outside of multiple entrances. Inside, dense crowds formed at district tables.

Juneau goes to the polls to elect a new mayor

Juneau residents are hitting the polls on Tuesday to elect a new mayor. Two candidates are vying for the spot: Ken Koelsch and Karen Crane. The city decided to hold the $35,000 special election after the death of Mayor Greg Fisk. Fisk died of natural causes shortly after winning last year's election. The mayoral candidates have served on the Juneau Assembly before.

Cruz wins Alaska’s GOP presidential poll (slightly)

Cruz received 36 percent of the vote, with New York businessman Donald Trump taking 34 percent, and record-breaking turnout among party-members.

Presidential race heads to Alaska in March

Judge sets trial date for campaign contributions case

A federal judge has set an April trial date in a case that could affect state campaign contributions limits in Alaska. U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Burgess said the trial is estimated to take five days. It is scheduled to start April 25th, about four months before the state's primary elections.

Complaint alleges campaign disclosure violations

The Alaska Public Offices Commission has filed a complaint alleging campaign disclosure violations by groups once linked to Gov. Bill Walker's deputy chief of staff. Download Audio

Mat Su Borough mayor sworn in

Mat Su Borough's October 6 election results were certified on Tuesday evening. All but one. The Borough's District 7 race is being contested by Doyle Holmes, the candidate who lost it. Winner Randall Kowalke will have to wait until an investigation is complete before being sworn in.

Meet the 3 candidates vying for Mat Su mayor’s seat

Three candidates are vying for the Matanuska Susitna Borough's mayor's seat. Incumbent Larry DeVilbiss seeks re-election, and he's is being challenged by Assemblyman Vern Halter and dark horse candidate Rosemary Vavrin. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6.
