Following more than a yearlong investigation, state wildlife troopers have charged a Colorado man with eight counts of "unlawful acts while acting as a big game guide" in Alaska, specifically in GMU 19. Officials Close Kotzebue-Area Subsistence Musk Ox Hunt

State wildlife officials have closed a subsistence musk ox hunt near Kotzebue because of evidence of wanton waste of the animals. Area biologists say five cow musk oxen from the Cape Thompson herd were killed sometime during January or February of this year. Download Audio

Ester Man Faces Charges After Killing Moose In Yard

An Ester man is facing charges for killing a moose in his yard.  Alaska State Troopers report that Michael Baldwin shot the animal in January to protect his dog, but never reported the incident, and left the moose carcass to rot. Download Audio

Road Kill Salvage Program Experiencing Heavy Workload

As long as snows are deep and nights are dark, moose mingling in roadways is a fact of life everywhere in Alaska. With a higher -than-average number of moose killed in collisions with vehicles this winter, the roadkill salvage program in the Mat Su Borough is rotating through the list frequently. One name on the list is the Su Valley High School Moose Club.
