Jack-Up Rig ‘Endeavor’ Departs Homer Harbor
After a seven-month-long stay at the Homer harbor, Buccaneer Energy’s jack-up rig Endeavor left Kachemak Bay Friday morning. The company plans for the rig to drill in the Cosmopolitan Unit near Anchor Point.

Seldovia Family To Hike Cook Inlet Coast

Homer city officials are expressing relief over a jury’s verdict Thursday exonerating the actions of Homer Police Department officers during a 2006 shootout at the Homer Airport, although attorneys for the plaintiff have promised to appeal the case.

A routine traffic stop in downtown Homer Saturday afternoon turned into an emergency situation when an Alaska State Trooper found a methamphetamine laboratory inside a vehicle.
Charter Boat Captain Convicted of Distributing Drugs
A Homer charter boat captain who pled guilty to distributing drugs to minors and possession of child pornography has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. The captain, 34-year old Randall Hines also will have to pay $160,000 in restitution.

New Reality Show To Feature Russian Old Believers
The latest installment of Alaska reality TV will feature the small, isolated communities of Russian Old Believers that call the Kenai Peninsula home. National Geographic Channel is interested in profiling families who live in the Old Believer villages and are specifically looking for “big personalities.”
Sunken Vessels Lifted, Removed from Jakalof Bay
A pair of commercial fishing vessels that sank in Jakalof Bay on Christmas Eve have been removed and transported to the Homer harbor. The vessels F/V Kupreanof and F/V Leading Lady were safely refloated last weekend by a team of experts, including people from the U.S. Coast Guard, the Homer and Seldovia Harbormaster’s offices, the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation and Global Diving and Salvage.

Buccaneer, Archer Drilling Argue Over Worker Compensation
A war of words has erupted between two oil and gas industry players over who exactly was responsible for paying workers on Buccaneer Energy’s jack-up rig “Endeavour.” While the rig sits idle at the Homer harbor more than four months after its arrival in Alaska, a lawsuit between Buccaneer and the “Endeavour’s” former operator – Archer Drilling – has been filed in Texas court.
Buccaneer Behind On Payments, Says City Manager
Buccaneer Energy has experienced another setback in its efforts to deploy the Endeavor jack-up rig, which has been docked at the Homer Harbor about four months longer than originally planned. The company was forced to replace the operator of the rig after local workers complained about not being paid.
