Skiff Found but Assistant Guide Missing
They have been searching for a missing assistant hunting guide near Koliganek. Alaska State Troopers report 44-year-old Brian R. Murray of Fairbanks has been missing since Saturday, when he failed to arrive at the village from camp upstream on the Nushagak River.
Secretary of Health and Human Services Expected this Week
Weather permitting, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is expected here this week. The Secretary will be meeting with medical personnel, looking at tribal health facilities and traveling to the North Slope and Interior.
Man Overboard in Koyukuk
They have been unable to find an Allakakut man who fell into the Koyukuk River last Wednesday. Timothy Ned, age 31, went overboard along with another relative, when the boat made a turn.
Stryker Soldier Killed
A Fort Wainwright Stryker Brigade soldier was killed by a roadside bomb while on patrol in Afghanistan. PFC Brandon Mullins, age 21, was from Owensboro, Kentucky. He was killed in Kandahar Province last Thursday, and three others in the vehicle were injured.
Beagley Convicted in Child Abuse Case
The Anchorage jury turned in its verdict Tuesday in the case of the woman who videotaped herself making her adopted child put hot sauce in his mouth to get on the Doctor Phil Show and get advice about how to discipline a difficult child.

An Anchorage jury now has the case against a woman accused of abusing her adopted son in an attempt to get on tabloid television.

The list of post offices in Alaska being considered for closure has shrunk down to 11. The announcement came from Senator Mark Begich 0n Monday, who said all the bush post offices off the road system - some 25 of them - have been taken off the list.

Two Feared Dead After Plane Crash Near Bering Glacier
The wreckage of a single engine plane was found Tuesday at Seal River, below the Bering Glacier. State Troopers found no bodies there, but the plane's owner, Richard Stoltzfus of Cordova and his passenger, John Dick, are feared dead. The plane was badly damaged. The two were part of a group of five staying at a cabin in the area.
Court Will Allow Vote to Limit Pebble Mine Development
The state Supreme Court of will not review a lower court's action that allows a public vote in the Lake and Peninsula Borough that would limit development of the Pebble mine.

State Troopers in the upper Susitna valley had a couple of fatals to deal with over the weekend.
Estimate Released for North Sea Spill
There is an estimate out now of the amount of crude oil spilled from Royal Dutch Shell's offshore platform in the North Sea - about 1,300 barrels. Shell was able to depressurize the leaking pipe and then discovered an undersea valve from the same well was also leaking what it characterized as a small amount.
Crash Survivor Says Visibility Was Poor
A survivor of that plane crash between McGrath and Aniak has told a National Transportation Safety Board investigator that the visibility was very poor when the plane slammed into a hill. The crash killed Aniak pilot Ernie Chase and Anvik teacher Julia Walker Saturday night. A family of two teachers and their children survived and were rescued the next day.
