Drones. These unmanned flying robots — some as large as jumbo jets, others as small as birds — do things straight out of science fiction. Much of what it takes to get these robotic airplanes to fly, sense and kill has remained secret.
Grantchester Returns Thursday Nights
James Norton stars as Sidney Chambers, a young and charismatic vicar who turns amateur investigator when one of his parishioners dies under suspicious circumstances in GRANTCHESTER. Chambers turns to gruff, down-to-earth police inspector Geordie Keating for help, and the two become crime-solving partners and friends in the hamlet of Grantchester. Thursday nights at 7.

Billy Joel Honored with Gershwin Prize
This music special honors singer-songwriter Billy Joel’s receipt of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.
The evening will include performances by Joel, as well as Tony Bennett, Boyz II Men, Gavin DeGraw, Josh Groban, Natalie Maines, John Mellencamp and LeAnn Rimes, with a special performance by Kevin Spacey — as well as a dance ensemble performance from Twyla Tharp’s “Movin’ Out.”

From Vienna: The New Year’s Celebration 2015
Always one of “our favorite things,” PBS continues the cherished tradition of ringing in the New Year at the opulent Musikverein with the Vienna Philharmonic under the baton of guest conductor Zubin Mehta, and featuring everyone’s favorite Strauss Family waltzes accompanied by the beautiful dancing of the Vienna City Ballet. Stage and screen legend Julie Andrews returns as host.
Front Row and Center – New Season
Front Row and Center returns for a new season with the series' eclectic signature of industry veterans mixed with a new generation of chart-toppers. The lineup of 10 episodes includes an Oscar-nominated rock band, guitar legends and, for the first time, country hit-makers. It will follow Austin City Limits on Saturday nights at 11:00 beginning January 3.

Juneau Coming Closer to Providing Housing for Homeless
Juneau is getting closer to becoming the third community in Alaska with a Housing First project to provide the chronically homeless with housing. Organizers told the Juneau Assembly on Monday that the project is moving from the concept stage to the design stage.

Mallott, Parnell Easily Win Nominations
Incumbent Republican Sean Parnell easily won renomination for governor beating three other candidates. His Democratic challenger will be Byron Mallott who also coasted to victory Tuesday. Parnell and Mallott will face Bill Walker, who is running as an independent, in November.
Debate for the State: Miller, Treadwell Face Off
Joe Miller and Mead Treadwell discussed foreign affairs, health policy, transportation, climate change, gun control, Social Security and how they wanted to help Alaska in the US Senate during a one-hour Debate for the State on Wednesday night.
