This week on Addressing Alaskans listen to Karen Evanoff's keynote address at the Bioneers in Alaska conference. Recorded October 16 at UAA, Karen describes Denaina traditions on place-naming, name meanings, and traditional ways of seeing and being of the Dena’ina (“the people”– one of 11 Alaskan Athabascan groups). The music and photos presented above are from Nondalton, the community located closest to proposed Pebble Mine.

Praire Home Companion Legend Tom Keith Dies at 64

Alaskan audiences swarmed the State Fairgrounds last summer for A Prairie Home Companion live at the Alaska State Fair. Today, Minnesota Public Radio reports APHC sound effects master Tom Keith suddenly passed at this home last night. Tom will missed by public radio fans in Alaska and around the country.

Fourplay will travel to Tom Moran's hometown of Fairbanks, when it completes its run at Anchorage Community Theater on November 13.

"Perception is everything," according to Edward Peck, former U.S. diplomat in Iraq, Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt . "In our country people are unable to understand the importance of trying to get a grasp on the perceptions of those people over there," said Peck at the Alaska World Affairs Council on October 21. Listen to his talk entitled, "The Arab Spring: Geography, History and Religion Shape a Vital Region" this week on Addressing Alaskans.

Physical Therapy Approaches to Pain
Acute and chronic pain of the muscular skeletal system is common. Options for treatment are varied, some with extensive evidence of effectiveness and others less so.
