Social Video Specialist
Before joining Alaska Public Media in March 2023, May’s professional background consisted of several different roles as the first line of communication for the public, starting from a financial institution to the justice system. Originally from Fresno, California, May resided in Minnesota for a few years but has spent a majority of her life in Anchorage and graduated from Bartlett High School in 2015. Although her family is scattered throughout Minnesota and the south, she considers Alaska home, having created a family of her own through lifelong friendships here.
May has always had a passion for media, growing up as a longtime consumer and enjoys the aspect of connection by way of social media. She creates content revolving around lifestyle, travel and fashion as a hobby, while sprinkling in some discussion of self-care and personal development topics. Additionally, she is a freelance portrait photographer who cultivated her skills by watching YouTube tutorials online. Apart from living her life on the internet, May is a cat mom who enjoys hosting game nights with friends, collecting records, singing while playing the ukulele, weightlifting, traveling, and discovering new places for grub. You can occasionally find her at some of our local weekend markets either photographing small business owners and their work or spending more money than she should on jewelry and art.
