A 31-year old Ketchikan man was taken to the hospital late Thursday night after a dispute that left him with a gunshot wound in the arm.
According to Lieutenant Joe White of the Ketchikan Police Department, officers were sent to a trailer on Buren Road a little before midnight on Halloween.
“There had been an altercation up there between two males. It sounded like there was a physical confrontation,” White said. “I believe there was 2 to 3 shots fired, and one of the males was struck.”
The shooting suspect is a 51-year old man, according to the police, but neither he nor the alleged victim have been identified as of deadline for this story.
Police say that only one of the men lives at the trailer on Buren Road.
White added that alcohol may have been involved in the incident. He also noted that the investigation was ongoing.
“We had officers called out last night and they worked the scene for most of the night,” he said. “And we have detectives running around today doing follow-up and interviews and contacting people who were at the residence last night when this happened.”
The shooting suspect has not yet been charged with anything. Police say more information will be released as the investigation continues.
The department noted that Halloween was an otherwise quiet night in Ketchikan, with just one drunk driving arrest.
