Pulse Dance Company, Alaska’s youngest, boldest contemporary dance group appears in concert at APU Grant Hall Theatre to premiere Ever After. This production serves as the finale of their third season.
The Ensemble’s talented corps, hand-selected by company manager and artistic director Stephanie Wonchala, flexes technical prowess and performative chutzpah in distinct Pulse style.
Ever After, Wonchala’s newest choreographic work, stems from lingering childhood wonderment met with the realities of adulthood. Inspired by folklore and fairy tales, this evening-length piece touches on societal pressures of the sexes and what it means to find happiness.
The eight-member, all-Alaskan cast proudly functions as an independent dance group, maintained via vigorous fundraising efforts, tremendous administrative ardor, and unsurpassed member dedication. Each performer applies extensive modern and ballet dance training to the choreography.
Friday’s opening night gala is formal, complete with complimentary beer and wine, photographers, and a silent auction. VIP tickets are available that night to meet the cast, tour backstage and take advantage of priority seating.
