Over 100 communities across Alaska will host Choose Respect marches and rallies against domestic violence and sexual assault today. It is the third year of Governor Parnell’s campaign. He has said his goal to eliminate the abuse within a decade, with an emphasis on personal responsibility and peer pressure.
“There are many programs to address is, but unless we address it individually, and speak up, and take action proactively together, we’re not even going to make a dent in this epidemic,” Parnell said.
Parnell is set to speak in Fairbanks at noon today. Nome’s Bering Sea Women’s Group will have an open house at the Senior Center at 4:00pm. Along with Natural Resources Commissioner Dan Sullivan.
