Representatives from Alaska, British Columbia and the Yukon are expected in Juneau this week for the Al-Can Summit.
The Juneau Empire reports the event, which begins Thursday, is sponsored by the Juneau World Affairs Council. It will be held at the University of Alaska Southeast’s Auke Bay campus and feature authors, experts, professors and civic leaders.
Juneau World Affairs Council President Jim Clark says the purpose behind the event is to help Juneau residents better understand the region. He says Juneau is close to the Canadian border but many people don’t know what goes on in the Yukon or British Columbia.
