A Washington state man accused of driving the wrong way on a highway and seriously injuring an Anchorage police officer has been arrested.
49-year-old Gregory Fulling of Marysville, Wash. was arrested Tuesday in his hospital room. A guard is standing outside his room until he is well enough to be released.
Fulling was arrested on assault and drunken driving charges.
Police accuse Fulling of driving the wrong way for nearly 12 miles on the Glenn Highway during the early morning hours of Sept. 23. Fulling’s rental car collided nearly head-on with a police cruiser driven by officer Randy Hughes. The officer was responding to reports of the wrong-way driver.
Hughes was severely injured and treated at a Seattle hospital.
