The Alaska Federation of Natives annual convention begins this week in Anchorage. More than 4,000 are expected to attend. The First Alaskans Elders and Youth Conference starts today at the Dena’ina Convention Center, and the main convention begins Thursday, with the theme, Strength in Unity. Iditarod champ John Baker is to be one of the keynote speakers. AFN’s board of directors represents 180 villages.
