A Fort Yukon man has been selected as one of this year’s winners of the Presidential Citizens Medal, the nation’s second highest honor for a civilian. The award recognizes public service.
72-year-old Clarence Lee Alexander and 12 others will receive the honor Oct. 20 from President Obama.
The White House spokesmen say Alexander is being recognized for his efforts to clean up the Yukon River, with the closure of open-burn dumps and removal of millions of pounds of waste.
