Iditarod champion Lance Mackey began preparing for the 2011 race years ago, saying he bred two of his dogs with this year’s contest in mind. “I’ve trained the way I’m going to race and I’m going to race the way I’ve trained,” he said Saturday before the beginning of the Ceremonial Start in Anchorage.
