Yesterday’s election produced a slight shift in the party balance of Anchorage’s Juneau delegation. In the Senate the Republican/Democrat ratio remains the same. But in the house, the Democrats lost two Anchorage seats.
The Anchorage Senate race attracting the most attention was for District P, formerly the unassailable holding of Republican Con Bundy, who retired and left the seat open. After August’s primary winnowing, yesterday’s ballot offered three candidates – Republican Catherine Giessel, Democrat Janet Reiser and non-affiliated Phil Dzubinski. All three seemed well financed and issue oriented. Tuesday night, winner Giessel credited her campaign style.
