Denali Climbing Season Begins

On the next Outdoor Explorer: Climbing North America's highest peak. The first climbers of the season are beginning their attempts on Denali.  And in a few weeks, base camp on the Kahiltna glacier will become an international village of mountaineers. Extending the Season

Gardening season is upon us in Alaska and according to Eliot Coleman, owner of Four Season Farm in Maine, it doesn't ever have to end. This week on Addressing Alaskans, Coleman shares vegetable and fruit-growing techniques to extend our season here in the far north. Perseverance Theatre Coming to Anchorage

After 31 years of professional theater in Juneau, Perseverance Theatre will run it's first season of plays in Anchorage in 2012. Dive Fisheries see High Prices

Southeast Alaska’s commercial dive fishing seasons are underway this month (October) for red sea urchins, sea cucumbers and geoduck clams. The dive fisheries continue to see impacts from the region’s expanding population of sea otters.

Alaska Firefighters Help Out With Lower 48 Fires

Alaska fire fighters have headed to the Lower 48 to help with wild fires and other natural disasters. Alaska Fire Service spokesman Doug Stockdale says 133 overhead personnel, seven fire crews and two aircraft from Alaska have been deployed south to assist with incidents in 11 states.
