The Alaska Teen Media Institute gives teens a voice in their community by providing them with the tools and training needed to produce their own stories. The stories are then shared through a variety of media. The teens produce a radio show called, In Other News. The show airs on KNBA 90.3 FM at 4 p.m. the last Saturday of the month.

Surfing on St. George Island

Alaska Teen Media Institute's Mario Davis and Robert Stormo were in St. George at Seabird Camp 2013 to teach students how to shoot and make a movie about what they learned during camp. They were scheduled to be on the island July 28-July 31, but ended up staying until August 7 because of weather. So, they learned to surf.

2013 Sadler’s Alaska Challenge Mini-Doc

The Sadler's Alaska Challenge is the toughest and longest Handcycle race in the world. The 7 stage race was held in Alaska, July 15-21. The Alaska Teen Media Institute documented the race. Read more.

Pribilof Islands Middle Schoolers Make a Documentary about Seabirds

A group of St. Paul Island 6th and 7th grade students have been studying the seabirds native to their island. For their final project for the Seabird Youth Network, the young students teamed up with Alaska Teen Media Institute to make a video documentary. Click here for the full story.

Video: Fairview Block Party

You may have missed the Fairview Block Party back in June, but Gabi Riquelme, Krisha Manuel and Mario Davis of the Alaska Teen Media Institute were there. They produced a great video, which really captures the spirit of the event. Check it out.
