Berlin, Paris and London-Part One of Three

To a baby boomer like me who grew up in the fifties learning how to crawl under a desk in case of nuclear attacks or being told to watch out for Communists lurking under everyone’s bed, the idea of vacationing in Berlin this past June seemed daunting. Pursuing African Peace Through Film

Kodiak Based non-profit Media Action Has been awarded a $119,595 Grant from United States Institute of Peace. Funding will support a training program in conflict resolution and peacebuilding skills for at–risk youth in the West Nile region of Uganda. Read more.

Kenny Lake Students Premiere Historical Railway Documentary

Students in the award-winning documentary filmmaking program at Kenny Lake School, a small K-12 school in the rural town of Copper Center, Alaska, recently premiered their 90-minute documentary Iron Rails: The Story of the Copper River and Northwestern Railway. The film, which was supported by a 2010 Alaska Humanities Forum We the People grant of $6,000, has won first place in the Alaska Society for Technology in Education (ASTE) 2012 documentary film contest.
