Hugh "Bud" Fate, is a U.S. Army Veteran who was drafted during the Korean War.
Fate never made it to Korea. When his commanders found out he was from Alaska, they tapped him for the Army mapping of the ALCAN Highway.

Recovered Polar Bear Cub At Alaska Zoo
On March 12, 2013, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service received word that a female polar bear had been taken near Point Lay, Alaska.
The adult female was accompanied by a cub, which was recovered and transferred first to the community of Point Lay.

Browder’s Retirement Official, Graff Takes Helm at ASD

Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan has rejected an offer to freeze wages of city workers in exchange for tabling a controversial ordinance that would limit unions. KSKA's Daysha Eaton has the story.

The Senate moves closer to a vote on oil-tax legislation. Anchorage School Board Superintendent James Browder announces his impending retirement. Conservative lawmakers have proposed legislation that would require welfare recipients to submit to drug and alcohol tests. New analysis show that health-care costs are slowing down.

Browder Steps Down, Replacement Named
Anchorage School District Superintendent Jim Browder will retire in June after less than one year on the job, and his replacement has already been chosen. The announcement came after a closed door meeting between School Board members and Superintendent Jim Browder at the Anchorage School District Education Center.

Anchorage Bars to Stay Open Until 4am
The Anchorage Assembly has passed an ordinance allowing Anchorage bars to stay open an hour later. But they won't be able to serve alcohol that extra hour. The ordinance is aimed at reducing problems downtown at closing time.

Kodiak Rapper Releases Debut LP
I knew I had an interest in music very early on in my life. I liked writing as a child, and that paired with my fascination with drumming led to rap music.
By middle school I was composing my own beats, using my drum set and beat making machines on my computer. Now I've finally released my debut LP "Paper and Crayons."
