Wild Alaskan Low-Bush Cranberry Sauce

Chutneys, sauces, jams and other acidic fruit preserves are a refreshingly tart way to brighten up a winter meal. I happened to find myself with 5 gallons of low-bush cranberries, handpicked and straight from the Interior. UAA Establishes Fund for Student-athlete Marko Cheseto

In response to an overwhelming number of inquiries regarding Marko Cheseto, a restricted fund has been established here at the University of Alaska Anchorage athletics department in support of him. This fund will consist of private donations only and no state monies will be used for this fund. Read more.

Traumatic Brain Injury and Alzheimer’s

Dr. Joshua Gatson is an award winning Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Gatson is currently participating in some of the first clinical studies in the world attempting to prevent Alzheimer’s and dementia from developing in individuals who have experienced a traumatic brain injury. World Aids Day 2011

World AIDS Day is Thursday, December 1, 2011 and the Alaskan AIDS Assistance Association (Four A’s) is raising awareness about the global epidemic. In Alaska, Four A’s broadens the impact of World AIDS Day in our community by planning a series of activities to raise awareness and eliminate HIV stigma. This year’s theme is Aim for Zero. We are aiming for zero stigma, zero discrimination, zero risk, zero new cases and most importantly, zero deaths. Read more.

Going to the Library with Kids

I love books. I could get lost in a book all day, which is really hard when I have three little ones running around. I can in get a chapter here or there. Sometimes my mommy guilt says "you can't read, you have dishes and laundry to do!" I'm still learning how to fight back that voice. Spirit of Youth Nominations

The Spirit of Youth, a campaign to recognize Alaska's teens, seeks nominations by December 31, 2011. The Spirit of Youth recognizes Alaskan youth, ages 12-19 statewide. Nominations can come from anyone who wishes to recognize a hard-working Alaskan teenager. Nominations can be made in one of 11 categories. Find out more.
