The Role of Farms in Alaska’s Food Security

According to recent estimates, around 106,200 Alaskans are considered food insecure, with about 37,640 of those being children. Alaska’s food security as a state depends on supply chains stretching thousands of miles. Searching for the Moon Over Alaska

Today we’re searching for the moon. Saturday was International Observe the Moon Night, and a group of staff at the Anchorage Loussac Library celebrated it for their third consecutive year. Linda Klein is the youth services librarian at the Loussac, and is running tonight’s event. Right now, she's using a butter knife to scrape off different amounts of frosting on several cookies, displaying each phase of the moon. More.

For outdoor families, it can be tough when children leave elementary school and suddenly don’t want to go outside anymore. There are plenty of exceptions, but middle school coaches and parents of tweens know that this is a critical age to keep young people going outside and active. Not My Life: Slavery in Anchorage

The first human trafficking case prosecuted in the United States happened right here in Anchorage, Alaska. Not My Life is a documentary depicting the dehumanizing practices of human trafficking and modern slavery worldwide.
