Today we’re making caviar Alaska style; made from salmon roe. Natasha Price writes the food and crafts blog Alaska Knit Nat, and she recently posted a how-to guide for making salmon caviar. It’s a family recipe, and one that Natasha didn’t really like growing up.

Forum On the Oil Tax Referendum

Taxes from oil production pay for a hefty chunk of Alaska's state government. Last year the Legislature narrowly passed Senate Bill 21, which offers tax cuts to encourage more drilling in the wake of declining oil production statewide. On August 19, voters will have the chance to repeal those cuts. Alaska Common Ground brings panelists from both sides of the debate to hash out the details of the oil tax referendum on the table. AK: Welding

There are more than 100 people employed at Ketchikan’s Vigor Industrial Shipyard. Out of all of them, Cat Wong might have the most unusual story about how she got there. The 25-year-old is a pipe fitter and welder. She was born in the U.S., but grew up with her family in Singapore. When she was 21, Cat made an unusual choice, and moved to Ketchikan. Download Audio

Sunday night shoot spree results in no injuries

Few details are available about Sunday's 3 am drive-by shooting in Anchorage near 47th Avenue and Arctic Blvd. An Anchorage party bus with 17 people inside was shot 10 times by at least four different guns. Bullets entered through the back window and the body of the 28-passenger vehicle. No one was injured.

Chilkoot Pass

But when the Anchorage Daily News was acquired by the Alaska Dispatch, it stopped running its own editorials.
